Originally from Billings, Montana, Serrina Doss' passion for helping pets began at a young age living on a farm and being around many different breeds of animals.  After moving to Seattle, Washington in 2003; she later began her career with animals after earning her Associates in Veterinary Technology and passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam.  In addition to her degree, she has worked in the animal care field since 1995.

Serrina's primary goal in her work is to use her wide range of skills--lab test analysis, radiology, dental care, small animal care, etc.--to help support the well being of the pets she cares for on a daily basis in our clinic.

At home, she has three Italian Greyhounds named Mika, Gaia, and Keira, a Doberman Pinscher named Security, and a newly rescued kitty named Hina. She has been visiting Maui since 1995 and now that she's here she enjoys running outdoors and spending time with her husband, family, and caring for their pets.

Raised in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, Danielle Carroll learned love, responsibility, and respect of animals from the time she was able to speak.  With encouragement from her family, she and her brother helped teach canine obedience classes when she was only 8 years of age. After school, she became an ocean lifeguard in New Jersey and fell deeply in love with the beach atmosphere.   

Danielle spent the next three years of her life fulfilling her wanderlust doing volunteer work on organic farms on the Hawaiian Islands and in Costa Rica; and in turn got to care for a large variety of animals, (horses, peacocks, goats, donkeys, sheep, dogs, pigs, chickens, ducks, African greys, tilapias, and even water buffalo!). 

It became obvious to her in her early twenties that she wanted to spend her life working with animals while working the land and what better place than Maui for both?  She now devotes her time to volunteering with the Maui Humane Society, Red Cross, and loving her life as the Customer Service Manager for the West Maui Animal Clinic.

Danielle is passionate about educating against discrimination towards “guard dog/fighting dog” breeds and the false reputation they face.  She believes any good pet comes from having a good owner.  

She shares her home with her highly intelligent pit bull mix, Lono, who is a Maui Humane Society adoptee.  One day she hopes to own an organic farm that she could turn into an agricultural education and animal rescue center.

Kelly Heiman started her professional career far from the animal world, serving as Deputy City Treasurer for the city of Los Angeles for 15 years. However, even her demanding job couldn’'t keep her from devoting her time and energy to animals- She ran the city'’s dog licensing program, spearheaded a vaccination clinic, and volunteered her time as city dog catcher.  She says, "“Everybody needs to take responsibility for their pets, and whatever I can do to educate or make services available to pet owners, I am happy to do.”"

She finally stopped resisting her true passion, quit her job, and went back to school, adding a degree in Animal Science and a Veterinary Technician’s license to her extensive business expertise.

Shortly after moving to Maui, Kelly met Shae Martin, and started working at Central Maui Animal Clinic. In 2009, the pair formed the Lana’i Animal Clinic, and now in 2011 are again expanding to bring the West Maui Animal Clinic to Lahaina.

Kelly’'s goal is to provide a facility that offers the best possible veterinary care, top-notch customer service, and a place that clients can rely on, form a relationship with, and be able to reach out to with questions, concerns, or emergencies.
